We are sharing the McMinn County School’s post to let our families know that we, along with Athens City Schools, are taking the same precautions to keep everyone safe. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this situation.
    Dear Parents and Guardians,
This morning, McMinn County Schools was notified of a potentially armed suspect on the run in connection with an overnight criminal investigation. Out of an abundance of caution, we have placed our schools under a Secure status.
    What does "Secure" mean?
A Secure Action is taken when there is a potential threat or hazard outside the school building. All students and staff are brought inside, and all exterior doors are locked to secure the building. Please note: Classes are continuing as normal inside. Instruction is not interrupted, and students remain safe and supervised.
If needed, access to and from the building will be limited and monitored by our School Resource Officer (SRO) to ensure everyone's safety.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you informed of any updates.
Thank you for your continued support and trust.
    Sincerely,
    McMinn County School District

Update: we are fixed and clear! Thank you for your cooperation.
Transportation alert! Parents, we are having drain issues. As soon as car rider parents can get here, please come on to school. Once parent pick up is over, buses will load (close to normal time, but could be a few min. early). If you would rather pick up your bus rider, you are welcome to come and get in the car line. Sorry for this situation!u

Please help us welcome our new teachers!
Mr. Bradley Headrick will be teaching ELA in 3rd grade, and comes to us from Hamilton County Schools.
Mrs. Lisa Bredwell is a familiar face at ECS, as she has served as a volunteer and substitute at our school. She will be teaching 4th and 5th grade ELA.
Mrs. Dana Peterson is not new to ECS this year, but she has a new role as Instructional Coach for our teachers.
We are excited to have them in our ECS family and wish them a wonderful start to the new school year!
